Not sure if we went to wrong shop but sorry the meal we had was bad. Its just bad overall. Chicken was so so dry n tasteless. Even the beansprouts failed. Did we just had some others leftovers or Main Chef just had a fight with his love. Even my Mom who is the most Chin cai eater and supps almost everything feedback that its bad. The rice doesn't goes well too. As for the roast pork, i really shouldn't had ordered it. Saw that a drink or something would be given if good review is given. Not sure if thats why the extremely high reviews from others. I'm sure its awesome to others perhaps but sadly we had to try once to know. Nonetheless, this is just our own personal opinion. Taste buds differs across all.

Decent chicken rice chain! Soup and sauce will be served for each pax dining! Plus a vege dish for sharing (sth like achar?) Chicken was not bad. The sauce was good, topped with a good amount of garlic to enhance the flavor of the dish! Rice was just okay. Not very flavorful and regular quality rice. Char Siew was ok, not too fat or lean. Vege ok too! Overall, a not bad chicken rice chain! (FYI you can get complimentary drink if you leave 5* review)!

Kitty and I were excited to try Katong Mei Wei, a popular eatery known for its chicken rice and modern cafe-style drinks. We'd heard good things from friends and online reviews, and I'd even tried it once before with a colleague at the Katong Shopping Centre outlet, which is located within a coffee shop. This time, we went to their stand-alone restaurant location, and while the location has a bright and casual atmosphere with a cartoonish mural and string lights, making it feel relaxed and family-friendly, our experience wasn't all that memorable. We waited about 10 minutes in the queue for a table and another 20 minutes for our food and drinks. We also noticed that the servers were mostly Thai or Vietnamese, which was interesting. While the chicken rice was decent, Kitty felt it wasn't as good as some of the well-known chicken rice stalls, and we both agreed the achar and bean sprouts lacked flavor The chicken rice had a yellowish tint, but we felt it lacked that distinct chicken rice taste. The Matcha Marshmallow Milkshake wasn't our favourite either. However, Kitty really enjoyed her Royal Milk Tea. On the plus side, they offer free-flow achar and soup. We appreciated that they were generous with both. I've tried this chicken rice before, and it was much better than I remembered. I'm not sure if it's because of this particular outlet or maybe the standard has dropped over time. Overall, while the atmosphere is inviting, the food itself didn't quite live up to the hype. We're not sure if we'd recommend this spot specifically for chicken rice.

Katong Mei Wei (Stand-Alone Restaurant): A Mixed Bag (3/5 Stars) Rating Breakdown: • Food: 3/5 (Chicken rice was decent, but lacked flavor compared to other well-known stalls, achar and bean sprouts were bland. Matcha Marshmallow Milkshake was not a favorite, but Royal Milk Tea was good.) • Service: 3/5 (Long waiting time for food and drinks) • Ambiance: 4/5 (Bright and casual, family-friendly atmosphere) Overall: 3/5 Donkey and I were excited to try Katong Mei Wei, a popular eatery known for its chicken rice and modern cafe-style drinks. The chicken noodles were packed with breast meat, but unfortunately, it was quite tough and dry. The roast pork, priced at $8, felt overpriced and didn’t taste good either. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I decided to try this place because it was recommended by a KOL, but it didn’t live up to the hype.

Really cosy dining environment and food tastes great and comforting too! They’re already famous so I don’t have to say much, I ordered 1 pax set steamed chicken with added roast chicken meat, their thai fried tofu which was soft and warm! They serve turmeric rice here and also their house-made ginger sauce, not too heavy but goes well with the dark soy sauce and chili. Overall, a great place to dine in!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had an amazing meal at Katong Mei Wei! Their steamed chicken is incredibly tender and juicy, while the roasted chicken is packed with flavor—both are absolute must-tries. What makes their chicken rice stand out is the turmeric yellow rice instead of the usual oil rice. The fragrance and taste make it truly unique! I also tried their chicken slice hor fun, which comes in both dry and soup versions—both were fantastic in their own way. The dry version had a deliciously savory sauce, while the soup was comforting and flavorful. To top it off, their royal milk tea is a must-order! Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, it pairs so well with the meal. Highly recommended if you're looking for a great chicken rice spot with a twist! Will definitely be back.

I'm obsessed with Katong Mei Wei's chicken rice! Their steam chicken is incredibly tender and juicy, while their roasted chicken is equally delicious. But what really sets them apart is their unique turmeric yellow rice - it's so fragrant and flavorful! A game-changer from the traditional oil chicken rice. I also tried their chicken slice horfun, which comes in both dry and soup versions - both are AMAZING! And don't even get me started on their self-made royal milk tea... it's a MUST-ORDER! Katong Mei Wei, you've won me over! Can't wait to come back for more! Highly recommend!

KTMW Chicken Rice is hands down one of the best chicken rice stalls I’ve ever tried. The chicken is incredibly tender, juicy, and flavourful, with just the right amount of seasoning. The rice is aromatic and perfectly cooked — fluffy with a subtle hint of garlic and ginger. The chilli sauce is a standout: spicy, tangy, and complements the chicken beautifully. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Service is warm and efficient, making every visit a pleasant experience. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic and satisfying chicken rice. Five stars, no doubt!
